The Difference - PYFL vs. Gold Coast
There are two different youth football organizations in the SCV, which are the PYFL and the Gold Coast League. The teams in the valley associated with the PYFL are the SCV Cougars, SCV Warriors and the Canyon Outlaws. The teams associated with the Gold Coast League are SC Wildcats, Spartans and Grizzlies.
Both organizations believe in sportsmanship, and dedication; however the way teams are structured in both leagues are very different.
There is a fallacy that smaller players should go to the Gold Coast League because they have a different weight classes, and they may be more competitive. While it is true that the maximum weight for the Pee Wee are less, there is a new class that is between PYFL Bantam and GCYFL Bantam and Junior, making the divisions very comparable.
Below is a side by side comparison of the divisions and weight classes.
Please note in the Senior Division, High School Freshman are allowed to play in the Gold Coast League, where PYFL stops at 8th grade.

As you can see the age and weight classes are comparable between all divisions, which eliminates the fallacy. In addition the Gold Coast now allows for X-men in all division where weight is unlimited for linemen.
